Turn readers into fans, automatically.
A reader finishes your book. They loved it. Then... what? For most authors, that reader is gone, onto the next book, the next author, never to be heard from again.
Newsletters are supposed to fix this, but they don't. Readers rarely sign up, even for their favorite authors. Authors spend years building lists that grow slowly and reach few. There has to be a better way.
We're building one, inside the Book DNA app.
How it works
When a reader logs a book in the Book DNA app, we ask them a simple question: do you want us to alert you when this author releases something new?

Readers who loved your book can opt in with one tap. We capture them as a fan, and when your next book launches, we let them know.
No newsletter sign-up. No email-list pitch at the back of your book. Just a quiet "yes" from a reader who already loved your work.
More ways readers stay connected to your work
The notify-me feature is one piece. We're also building two more ways readers stay connected to authors and series they love.
Book series tracking.
When readers add a book that's part of a series, we ask if they want alerts for the next book in the series. They'll never lose track of a series again.

Favorite author tracking.
Readers can follow specific authors and get alerts when those authors release anything new, whether it's a sequel, a standalone, or a new series.

Each of these is another way readers raise their hand to say I want more from this author. For you, that means every book launches with built-in momentum.
Every book builds on the last
I've talked with a lot of authors who told me their second book felt harder than their first. Same effort, less reach. Then the third book felt harder still. The best case is they have a newsletter to collect fans, but it's a hard sell. Most readers don't sign up, even for authors they love.
Fan collection is meant to fix that. Each book you publish leaves behind a group of readers who loved it and asked to hear from you again. Your next book launches to them. Over time, every launch starts with more momentum than the last, instead of starting from zero.
Fan collection is hard for almost every author, whether they're on book one or book twenty. We want to fix that. We're starting inside the app, and we're building more ways for authors to capture fans beyond it, too.
Where we are right now
This is being built. We're in beta and slowly adding beta readers as we build the app and gather feedback. The notify-me feature is live in the beta. Book series and favorite author tracking are coming next.
We're aiming to launch publicly in late 2026. Between now and then, we're focused on getting the app rock-solid for readers, building Goodreads and StoryGraph imports, and pulling in the readers who'll opt in to your alerts. You can follow our progress on the roadmap.
This won't happen overnight. We're saying it out loud anyway because we want every author to know what we're working toward and why.
Help us build this.
Book DNA is funded entirely by readers and authors who want this to exist. Without our members, this doesn't get built.
Your membership keeps us independent and funds what we're building:
- The Book DNA app, where the notify-me feature, book series tracking, and favorite author tracking all live.
- More ways to capture fans beyond the app, including a public subscribe page authors can send their readers to.
Memberships start at $50 a year with perks to help authors launch new books and get extra exposure.
